About the role

We are looking for a chief engineer with full engine room responsibility for our 88 m motor yacht, based in Auckland and cruising the South Pacific and Southeast Asia across the two hemispheres' seasons. Rotation is 3:3, joining in Auckland or Hong Kong depending on the vessel's position.

You will run a team of four across engineering and ETO, manage the planned maintenance system for a large diesel-electric plant, and lead yard periods during the New Zealand off-season. Approved Engine Course 2, an MCA Yacht Rating 1 (Y1) chief engineer's certificate of competency and a valid ENG1 are required; Advanced Fire Fighting and HELM management training are an advantage. We are looking for someone with at least eight years of engine room experience, including chief engineer time on yachts over 70 m.

Responsibilities

  • Engine room and generator plant management
  • Management of a 4-person engineering team
  • Planned maintenance programme oversight
  • Shipyard coordination during off-season periods
  • Fuel, water and waste management
